Rain barrels are an effective way to manage storm-water runoff and reduce the amount of pollutants that end up in waterways. By catching rain water before it runs off of a property, they help prevent pollutants, such as pet waste, automotive fluids, and fertilizer from being carried to storm drains and local waterways. In addition, rain barrels can be used to reduce demand on municipal water supplies because the water they store can be used for watering flowers, gardens and lawns, even in times of drought.

“It self-waters the plants on top, we use the water in it to water our garden plants, and it has helped to stop leakage into our basement when the gutters overflow. We live part time in the country where there is no city water. We collect rain water into a cistern there, so we appreciate the value of water.”
