Green Living Labs are a Saturday workshop series at Bluegrass Greensource, where staff present short, engaging workshops to help you build new skills and to live more sustainably. They cover a variety of topics, from gardening to green cleaners at home. Sometimes we bring in the experts, such as our friends from Seedleaf, to lead workshops in their fields. Whatever the topic, we design the labs to match your interests. Green Living Lab offers something for everyone!

Upcoming workshops:

This year, color your Easter Eggs with natural materials from your pantry or garden, like beets, onion skins, turmeric and purple cabbage!  Join us for this workshop, and take home a dozen hardboiled eggs, already colored.  Eggs used will be locally and naturally sourced from cage-free hens. The cost of this workshop is $15. Register here!

Learn about Shiitake Mushrooms and how to grow them the natural way on freshly cut oak logs. Participants will get to “plug” their own log to take home, which will produce Shiitake Mushrooms over time in your own backyard! All materials provided by Jack Stickney, who has been successfully growing Shiitake and Oyster Mushrooms for over 30 years on his Woodland Farm in Estill County on the banks of the Red River. The cost of this workshop is $20. Register here!
