Bluegrass Greensource remains committed to working with the city of Lexington and local businesses to help improve their sustainability efforts. Here’s how we work in our community.
Business Lunches: Presentations can be held as Lunch & Learns, event presentations, at general meetings, or whatever your business needs may be. Topics include, but are not limited to; recycling, energy efficiency, water quality, and sustainable purchasing.
Volunteer Opportunities: Bluegrass Greensource is always looking for volunteers for various events. If your business is interested in participating in or hosting an environmental community service event, we can help coordinate.
Waste Audits: A recycling waste audit can be performed to assess the quality of recycling efforts by your business.
Workshops: Workshops are a popular option for businesses to encourage their employees and/or customers to learn how to adopt sustainability habits through a hands on approach.
Green Check is a certification program that provides businesses and organizations with resources they need to become more sustainable. Organizations have the opportunity to join the Green Check program free of charge by committing to focus on sustainability efforts in the areas of waste reduction, energy efficiency, and / or water quality.
Members of the program can achieve higher levels of certification (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) by earning minimum scores on our Green Check sustainability assessment. Organizations that earn certification can see benefits in their branding and marketing strategies, cost savings, higher revenue generation, employee retention and satisfaction, and customer loyalty within their communities. All tiers of the Green Check Certification program, and all resources provided to organizations as part of the program are completely free within Fayette County.
