Our mission is to provide environmental education, resources and outreach that inspires, equips and empowers Central Kentuckians with knowledge and tools to help ensure clean, healthy and enjoyable environments for future generations.

Central Kentuckians are motivated and empowered to create a more sustainable Bluegrass.

  • We believe that all people have the ability to create positive environmental change.
  • We believe every person should have access to a healthy environment.
  • We believe in innovative and inclusive environmental education.
  • We believe in collaborative and action-oriented solutions.
  • We believe in working together to keep our air, land and water clean and free from pollution while creating beautiful and harmonious living environments.

We believe that small, every day changes make a big impact on our shared environment. We also believe that everyone can make a difference, no matter your background. Our goal is to empower you by providing the knowledge and resources you need to make that difference. We work with people throughout 20 Central Kentucky counties to create this change.

Every day, you will find our staff out in the community, working to remove the barriers — be they knowledge or resources — to increasing sustainability. Our educators will be working in the classroom alongside teachers and students, bringing to life the science of water, waste and energy. Meanwhile, our outreach specialists will be working with businesses of all sizes to help them achieve their sustainability goals, conducting workshops on building rain barrels, helping to organize a community litter clean up, or hosting a hands-on home energy efficiency workshop. Wherever they are, Bluegrass Greensource staff are illustrating that by taking small steps, our personal actions can have a big impact on the environment.
