We need YOUR help at Buckley this month! 

Join us September 27th as we roll up our sleeves for some summer maintenance around the sanctuary. Together, we’ll tackle meaningful projects that help keep this special place thriving, including maintaining trails, caring for native plantings, removing invasive species, and enhancing wildlife habitat. Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or joining us for the first time, we’d love to have you on the team. It’s a great way to spend time outdoors, connect with nature, and make a lasting impact in our community.

Astronomy Between The Trees

Join us at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary for Astronomy Between the Trees, an evening program that combines a twilight hike with an exploration of the night sky. Participants will begin with a guided hike through the sanctuary as daylight fades, learning about trees, wildlife, and the changing forest around them.

As darkness settles in, we’ll turn our attention upward for an introduction to astronomy with the Bluegrass Amateur Astronomy Club.  Participants will learn about the night sky, identify visible stars and constellations, and explore how trees, wildlife, and people are connected to the rhythms of the night.

This family-friendly program offers a unique opportunity to experience Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary after dark while connecting the forest below with the stars above. Participants should dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes suitable for walking on natural trails.
